Silver eye happens literally overnight...

Melissa, I am so sorry about Molly! Please keep us updated! I really think it might be worth it replacing the one eye. Her bad eye will gradually get worse. I know that AG does head replacements for free for silver-eyed dolls.

I'm also curious as to whether anyone has had non-gray eyes go silver or if it is just limited to that color?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">My about 17 year old Samantha started developing silver eyes a couple of years ago. I hadn't seen her for a few years...she had been being stored at my Dad's and then he mail her and her trunk to me. She was in sad shape, her white body had freckles on it (and still does) as did some of her clothing. Her hair wasn't ratty, but you could tell that it had been played with a lot and it was no longer becoming to her. One of her eyes though was starting to fade and I worried it was the start of silver eye. I called AG and found out they would replace the head for free. I really debated because I could always have rewigged her, but who knows about that eye! I specifically requested that an older Samantha head be placed on the doll to match her German body. Ag came through and I was very pleased. It was still Samantha, but her hair, her eyes and her complextion looked so much better.

Melissa, I am so, so sorry! I think I would cry if this happened to one of my old dolls. I am terrified that one of my childhood German dolls is going to develop this condition. How awful to just wake up one morning and discover that! If it happened to one of my dolls, I know I would have to figure out how to transplant an eye, because I wouldn't be able to live with the silver eye, nor could I stand having the whole head replaced. Grr...how unfair that this has to happen to beloved and irreplaceable childhood dolls. [img]frown.gif[/img]

Heck, I only had Anastacia for three weeks, and I couldn't handle the thought of a head replacement. I can't even imagine how bad I would feel if I'd had her for years. [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img]

I freely admit to being a perfectionist about my dolls, though. If they have a flaw that I think I'm capable of fixing, I'm not happy until it's repaired.

Oh Melissa! [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img] I am so sorry! I will just cry if that happens to any of my girls! They're all West German except for Kaya and Susanna (who isn't even an AG). I think you should try the contact lens idea and see if that works. If it doesn't, then I would find out if TLC doll hospital would replace her eye. Maybe Molly will like having contacts instead of glasses! Now I'm paranoid about my girls! I just woke Kirsten up to check her eyes. I feel for you! [img]graemlins/girl_hug.gif[/img]

What sad news, [img]graemlins/broken_heart.gif[/img] I once got an estimate of $50 from a doll hospital to replace an eye on a Gotz doll (same kind of eyes as AG). If you really don't want AG to replace the head, but you want the eye fixed, it is an option.

Hello ladys I had spoke with customer service the other day about the doll" poor old molly" and asked about the silver eye I was told that they will now replace the eye only! not the hole head.And that it would be free of charge because it is a fault of their's..., I thought this was strange because we had just sent my daughter kristen in for a eye that stuck open and they changed the Whole doll and didnt even ask this had been her very first ag doll and boy did she cry.. I called them and asked if there was anyway to get her back and customer service said no..We do love the new one but it isn't her first.. Diane [img]graemlins/cry_smile.gif[/img]

That's funny, because when I asked them the same thing two weeks ago, I was told that they didn't replace eyes. They'd just put a new head on her. [img]mad.gif[/img] It's frustrating trying to get the same answer out of all the different people that work there.

Oh Melissa, I am just brokenhearted for you and Molly. [img]graemlins/broken_heart.gif[/img] If AG does agree to replace just the eye (instead of the whole head) try and get both eyes done, so it doesn't happen to the other one too.

Nope, Anastacia's not a Kirsten. She was the AGOT with fair skin, blonde hair and gray eyes. I replaced both her eyes, as her eye donor had blue eyes. I saved the one good gray eye, and Melissa is more than welcome to it if she does decide a replacement is necessary.
